Commonly known as Luxembourg’s second city, Esch-sur Alzette is a commune with city status located in the in the south-west part of the country, near the border with France.

Esch-sur Alzette is the second biggest town in Luxembourg in terms of population, which for the town itself is around 27,000 people. Esch lies in the valley of the Alzette, which flows through the town. The town is located about nine miles from Luxembourg’s capital, Luxembourg City.

As far as attractions go, Esch-sur Alzette has some great ones. The National Museum of the Resistance resides here, dedicated to the freedom fighters who fought the German occupation during WWII.
